A smart heating system allows all system functions - from switch-off to switch-on - to be managed automatically, together with all instruments that are part of the heating system, meeting different thermal requirements and seasonal temperature scenarios.

This is done thanks to a very simple installation that a user can carry out independently.

The right temperature and comfort are thus automatically guaranteed, while at the same time allowing considerable savings in energy consumption.

A smart heating system also learns from the habits of those living in the house, creating the ideal temperature in each room depending on its use.

Everything must be able to be controlled and managed remotely via an Internet connection.

The most advanced systems also provide a range of other information by detecting air quality, or allow the user to become aware of any anomalies virtually in real time.

The main components of a smart heating system are:

  • Thermostat
  • Thermostatic valves
  • Repeater

Let’s take a look at how these components interact and how the installation of a smart heating system takes place.

How to install a smart heating system

How to install a smart heating system

First of all, in order to install a smart heating system, you need an internet connection and a wi-fi router, which allows the different components of the system to interact with each other and control it remotely.

Several devices may be necessary, depending on the size of the house to be heated.

IRSAP NOW products are very easy to install, following the installation and configuration guides available on the website and the video tutorials within the app.

Installing the thermostat

Installing the thermostat

A smart thermostat allows you to set different temperatures in different areas of the house, and also allows you to detect the humidity and air quality within your home environment.

Installing a wifi thermostat can be done either by wall wiring, to connect the device to the boiler via relay, or by placing the thermostat on a flat surface at a convenient height.

It can be installed where the previous thermostat was, replacing it, by connecting it to the boiler via relay.

To install the IRSAP NOW smart thermostat, simply download the dedicated app and upload the device's QR code with your camera during home configuration.

The application will automatically register the device by associating it with your smart system.

The app will then guide the user through all subsequent steps.

Once the installation procedure is complete, the user will be able to receive real-time data on the functioning of the system, as well as on the air quality and humidity level in the home.

In addition to the thermostat, the smart thermostatic valves are also very significant.

Valve installation

Valve installation

The IRSAP NOW wireless smart thermostats are designed to optimise the flow of water within each radiator dynamically, thereby increasing its efficiency.

These devices are interconnected with the other components of the smart heating system and can detect the temperature in each room, informing the user in real time via the app.

For this very reason, it is advisable to install a thermo-valve on every radiator in the house.

The IRSAP NOW Smart Valve is compatible with most hydraulic radiators with standard M30x1.5 connection, making it particularly easy to install on most radiators on the market.

It is preferable to install it on the radiator, away from niches or draughts, which could alter the correctness of the detection.

In particular, you can check the compatibility of existing valves by consulting our installation and configuration guides.

As with the thermostat, the Smart Valve must also be associated with the app (just by uploading the QR code with your camera) when configuring the house, to be networked together with the entire smart heating system.

The thermostatic valves are networked with the whole system via the Connection Unit.

Installation of Connection Unit and Repeater

Installation of Connection Unit and Repeater

The Connection Unit is the central control unit that enables communication between and to all devices in the IRSAP NOW smart heating system.

In addition, this device provides each system component with all the necessary information to ensure ideal comfort.

It is necessary to add one or more such units, to be used in Repeater mode, should communication problems arise between the various devices in the system due to distance or the presence of some architectural barrier (such as very thick walls), with a range of about ten metres.

In fact, as a Repeater, the device receives information from the main Connection Unit and, by extending or enhancing its signal, routes and repeats it to the other devices in the IRSAP NOW System.

When used in Repeater mode, the Connection Unit cannot be connected to a wifi network or router via the Ethernet cable, but will only communicate via radio frequency.

It will therefore only be necessary to connect it to the power cable.

For this, it is necessary to use a main Connection Unit, connected to the home router, and if necessary add another one to be used in Repeater mode, to extend the signal coverage of the main Connection Unit to more distant devices.

This is especially necessary in dwellings with a large floor space or with architectural barriers.

At this point, once the right signal coverage is guaranteed, the user can use the app to set his or her own living comfort scenarios at will, which will be transmitted to the Connection Unit and from there, broadcast to all other elements of the IRSAP NOW system.

In addition, the device stores the acquired settings on an internal card, so that the system is fully functional even if there is no Internet connection.

The Connection Unit is easily configured via the Irsap Now app, and for its installation only requires a power outlet and an internet connection via Ethernet cable.

Choose an integrated smart heating system

Choose an integrated smart heating system

A smart heating system like IRSAP NOW brings undoubted advantages from several points of view.

It allows fully multi-zone management of home heating, adapting the temperature of each room to the real needs of those who live there.

The system also learns from the habits of the inhabitants by self-adjusting when needed.

Everything can be controlled and changed at any time via the dedicated app, which also provides a range of very important data on home air quality.

Last but not least, having a smart heating system significantly lowers  consumption and thus guarantees significant savings on your gas bill, greatly limiting energy wastage.

We can waste energy easily in everyday life, just from leaving a window open, for example.

In this case, the system acts by detecting it and temporarily and locally suspending the heating, thus acting directly on the waste in action.

However, even long ter, there may often be unnecessary consumption.

This is what might happen, for example, when a family goes on a winter holiday.

In this case, by detecting the absence of people in the house, the system acts automatically, switching off the heating, avoiding unnecessary heat loss and ensuring that the house is in optimal condition when you return home.
